Why LAC+USC: I wanted to be a part of a community where both faculty and residents value the mission of working with marginalized populations. I truly admire my co- residents and am excited to be challenged to grow with them over the next few years.
Fun Fact: I auditioned for American Juniors (the kid version of American Idol) as a hip middle schooler.
What you’re doing now: Med+Peds Chief year 2022-2023. Currently in the National Clinician Scholars Program at UCLA studying community based interventions for individuals experiencing homelessness

Why LAC+USC: I loved my rotations in medical school at the county hospital and wanted an experience where I can serve. I wanted to be in an environment where we’re both building medical skills as well as the special skills it takes to care for socially complex patients. Los Angeles is a diverse, urban city, the type of place I wanted to be for my professional and social life. I’m also a California native and wanted to stay!
Fun Fact: My twin sister and I were born on our mom’s birthday!
What you’re doing now: Peds Chief 2022-2023. Currently Adult Hospitalist at LAG

Hobbies: finding the best local bites, yelling at my TV because a Philadelphia sports team is blowing it again, napping whenever possible, looking for volleyball or basketball games to embarass myself in, trying to find the prime spot to place my first settlement in Settlers of Catan
Why LAC+USC: I found people that I love practicing the type of medicine that I love with a population that I love – it was a no brainer. LA is cool too, I guess…ain’t no Philly though
Fun Fact: if I wasn’t in medicine I would be teaching Spanish literature on a liberal arts campus during the day and running my own food truck at night

Why LAC+USC: I love the patient population and the culture of service here. No one says no to going the extra mile for a patient; everyone is committed to providing the best care for the underserved, and it’s amazing being with people who share the same passion.
Fun Fact: I took a year off in med school where I taught English in Cambodia for 6 months, then worked at Peking Union Hospital in Beijing.

Hobbies: I enjoy hiking, cooking, smoking meats, and paying way too much attention to my cat and dog (Tuna and Chica).
Why LAC+USC: LAC+USC provides great clinical training and develops the skills so that you can confidently address a variety of medical challenges. By the end of our training here, you feel confident about your ability to practice independently. Additionally, we work with a diverse and undeserved patient population whom I hope to be dedicated to serving in the future.
Fun fact: Prior to med school, I was an English teacher with the Peace Corps in Mozambique.
