Hometown: Mentor, OH

Med School: Penn State College of Medicine

Why LAC+USC: Simply, the mission and the people. I wanted to pursue residency at an institution/program dedicated to pushing medicine forward by actively working to aid those structurally disfranchised with regard to their right to health. I found this at LAC+USC. Coupled with a personable, supportive, and engaged resident and faculty cohort who have the same vision, LAC+USC was an obvious choice for me.

What you're doing now: Adult Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Kentucky

Fun Fact: I was once placed into/encased in a soap bubble.

Conner Fox, MD

Hometown: The Woodlands, TX

Undergrad: Columbia

Med School: Mount Sinai

Hobbies: My #1 hobby is reading reviews of things, then karaoke, reading other things (fiction, poetry), running, drawing things I find amusing, watching reality TV, baking, eating baked goods

Why LAC+USC: I wanted to train somewhere I'd learn the skills not just to be a great doctor, but also to provide thoughtful care for patients from underserved communities. I believe in the program's mission and commitment to community health, and I value our culture of going the extra mile for our patients!

What you're doing now: Primary care in LA

Matthew Schwartz, MD

Hometown: Macon, GA

Med School: Medical College of Georgia

Hobbies: Getting out of the car to pet cats, forgetting to water my succulents, playing piano, music production, playing basketball, eating at the Popeyes next to the hospital

Why LAC+USC: I hoped to find a community of people motivated to care for medically vulnerable and underserved communities. The commitment at LAC+USC to doing just that was unlike anything I had seen elsewhere, and I’m so excited to call this place home for the next 4 years!

What you're doing now: Med Peds chief year

Plans After Residency: Med-Peds hospitalist and/or primary care with a focus on caring for people experiencing homelessness. My ultimate career aspiration is to DJ a Bar Mitzvah.

Fun Fact: I can dunk when no one is watching.
