Welcome New Applicants

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics program. We are looking for motivated residents with a strong emphasis in serving and advocating for disadvantaged patients. Our faculty is dedicated to teaching and very supportive of residents. LA General Medical Center serves a large disadvantaged population with an incredible range and depth of pathology. As a result, our residents receive an outstanding clinical education and are well prepared to meet the challenges and advocate for their patients in any practice or training setting in Medicine, Pediatrics, or Med+Peds.

The majority of our training is at the LA General Medical Center but we also spend a portion of our training at other affiliated locations such as Juvenile Hall, Norris Cancer Center, USC University Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Our residents participate in a combined Med+Peds clinic and combined Med+Peds ambulatory rotation during all four years of training. We have a strong tradition of teaching, and our residents have been honored with teaching awards from medical students as well as offers for chief residency from our categorical Medicine and Pediatrics programs. We are located in Los Angeles, a large and diverse city with an incredible array of things to do within a relatively short distance.

We coordinate our interviews through our Med+Peds GME office (see address and contact information below). More details can be found in the “Applying” section of this website.

Applications should be made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We look forward to meeting you. If you have questions prior to your interview, feel free to call us.

Sincerely,

Breck Nichols, MD, MPH
